Telescoping Boom Lifts
Telescoping booms lifts are designed to mount a work bucket on a straight, extendable arm which is situated on a rotating turntable. Usually, telescoping boom lifts are used for tasks that need reaching at maximum height, exceeding other types of lifts. Like for instance, employees are able to carry out exterior repairs or renovations on medium sized buildings but using these lifts rather than having the additional work of setting up an outside elevator or a pulley system.
The boom lift bucket generally only holds a single employee. These buckets are more suited to particular jobs like for instance electrical repair, rather than general maintenance or window washing. These lifts are available with both indoor and outdoor tires and are available in gas or electric configurations.
Scissor Lifts
Below the scissor lifts work platform are the cross braces in which the machine gets its name. Once the braces move together it pushes the platform straight up. As these units must be positioned directly below the work site, as opposed to boom lifts, these units are way more limited in their use.
Scissor lifts do, on the other hand, provide larger platforms which enable the operator controlling the lift to access a bigger work surface once the lift is raised. With scissor lifts, all-terrain capability is less of a problem with these models, since they should sit on flat ground in order to be utilized. Scissor lifts are great for being used for window installation or cladding, because they provide the personnel with the desired mobility; they are also a great option for window cleaning applications or exterior repairs.
Boom Trucks vs. Cranes
Bucket trucks, cherry pickers and boom trucks each refer to the class a kind of utility vehicle used specially for vertical work. Generally, these kinds of trucks have a cab. It is here where the operator sits and controls the equipment. There is a bucket for where the employee can stand along with a winch for carrying and an actuator arm for lifting the boom.
Boom trucks take workers to heights which would normally be inaccessible. The function of cranes is to lift heavy materials or equipment from one location to another. There are various types of cranes that could perform various purposes. Both of these different kinds of machinery excel at various tasks and are great for particular applications and accomplishing particular jobs.
