Solid Lift Truck Tire Safety
Approximately 200 deaths ever year are caused by mishaps that involve lift trucks, or forklifts. Correct maintenance and inspection of lift truck tires can truly help to lessen the risk of mishaps.

Pre-Work Inspection
Prior to the start of each shift, the tires on the lift truck should be checked for indications of wear and damage. The air pressure inside the tires should be checked to make certain that the pressure is not too low. Low tire pressure could make the machine susceptible to tip-overs when lifting loads.

Types of Tires
The choice of tire type must be based on the type of surface wherein the lift truck will be used. For indoor applications, lift trucks with solid rubber tires are recommended. For surfaces which are smooth, tires are normally smaller. Larger pneumatic tires are great for lift trucks for outdoor use. Pneumatic tires could grip well on surfaces which are rough because they have rubber tread and are air-filled.

Other Considerations
Any lift truck utilized on a continual basis must be inspected at the end of every shift, based on Occupational Health and Safety Administration guidelines. The tires must be checked again for any sign of damage, like for instance cuts or wear.

Forklift Safety
Forklift safety is important for any employee or employer using a forklift because forklift mishaps can be serious leading to personal injuries and even death. Even minor mishaps can cost you and your business money if the lift truck or the merchandise are damaged in an accident. Be sure you are well informed about forklift safety issues.
