Narrow aisle forklifts
Usually used within warehouse operations is the Narrow Aisle Forklift. These forklifts are vital tools within the business because their small size and excellent maneuverability enable warehouses to use space to maximum storing capacity. They can easily go around aisles that are 1.8 meters wide, whereas standard lift trucks need 3.4 meters of aisle width, at least.
The two kinds are "narrow aisle forklift" and the "very narrow aisle forklift". The former need 2.4 meters - 3 meters in aisle width, while the latter could function in a 1.8 meters wide space.
The narrow aisle forklift design consists of forks positioned at right angles to the truck body. The trucks do not need to face the shelves, but instead drive straight down the aisle picking up loads to the side. This particular design feature is the key to their suitability for limited spaces.
To make sure that the forklift is moving in a straight line down the aisle, some very narrow aisle forklifts include optical or wire systems. That way, the operator can concentrate more on the placement and the picking of loads.
These kinds of lifts are outfitted with cushion tires made from solid rubber. The hard tires perform well on concrete floors and smooth, paved surfaces. Narrow aisle forklifts have electric motors that is best used in indoor places. Propane-powered versions are available too.
