Inventor Jerome Case established the company of CASE in Racine, when he began the construction of threshing machines. Later the company gained recognition globally as the initial builder of steam engines for its agricultural application. In time, the business grew to become the world's largest manufacturers of steam engines.
Case had established themselves in the construction equipment industry by 1912. They became a manufacturer of road building machines including road graders and steam rollers. Case grew their construction machine company through different acquisitions, beginning with the American Tractor Corporation during 1957. Case had expanded their company by the mid-1990s to become the leading producer of light-sized to medium-sized construction machines.
In 1999, Case merged with New Holland to become CNH Global. This company became responsible for marketing several of the leading brands of agricultural and construction machinery in the world.
