How to Charge a Scissor Lift
A lot of individuals value the convenience of using a scissor lift. The ease of working and the security offered from the lift's basket provide much more piece of mind than attempting to complete a similar task utilizing the step of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this machine make it the best option for completing jobs from heights.
Most scissor lifts are powered electrically by batteries which have been mounted directly onto the equipment. These batteries would need to be charged following a long shift or after sitting for extended periods without use. It is an easy job to charge the batteries. This can be done without any particular equipment or tools and requires no heavy labor.
The machine needs to be parked near an electrical output so as to prepare the scissor lift for charging. This charging place must also be in a well-ventilated place. Then, in order to prevent another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the large red button found near the control box or the charger, inside the basket of the lift. Find the battery charger on the right side of the base of the lift. Often, older models will have the charger mounted on the back of the lift.
The AC extension cord should next be plugged into the charger. Be sure to charge in a well ventilated area and plug the cord into an electrical outlet. So as to prevent accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is intentionally short. This is because if any extra length were to drop out of the battery charger storage area while in use, extreme danger could potentially take place.
