Forklift Tire Specs
Forklifts have been an important tool in industry and commercial businesses ever since the year 1917. During its history the forklift has changed through different kinds, from a basic tractor with a platform attachment to a particular high-tech equipment. Forklift tires have also changed into specialized tires, with different kinds designed to meet specific functions.
Cushion (Solid) Tires
A cushion tire is made of rubber or solid polyurethane and is suitable for indoor applications on smooth surfaces. The cushion tire tread is bonded or pressed onto the steel ring of the tire. Cushion tires are rated ease of steering and for various load capacities. Cushion tires are normally utilized within warehouse atmosphere.
Pneumatic Tires
Pneumatic forklift tires are filled with air or foam. They come in two types: bias or radial. Depending upon the application, they are available with various tread depths, weight and sidewall protection. Pneumatic forklift tires which are filled with foam maintain constant pressures and are less prone to punctures. Pneumatic tires are commonly used outdoors on uneven, rough surfaces.
Pneumatic Shaped Solid/Solid Pneumatic
The comfortable ride that pneumatic tires provide together with the puncture resistance that solid tires provide are the combined features of Solid Pneumatic Hybrid Tires. They are an option to the outdoor pneumatic tire.
Large Rubber and Flotation Tires
Used on wheel loader forklifts are large rubber tires that could either be solid, pneumatic or foam. These tires are best for loading and transporting heavy items onto trucks or into processing equipment. Large flotation pneumatic tires are best for masted rough terrain forklifts usually used at automobile recyclers, lumberyards and construction sites.
