Forklift trucks are essential pieces of machinery utilized commonly in business, particularly within warehouses, distribution centers, storage handling and industrial facilities. A forklift truck is constructed of hundreds of components, such as the carriage, the cab, the power source, the wheels and the engine. Forklifts normally have a variety of attachments as well. The following are a few of the most important lift truck components.

Forklift Engine - At the rear of the machinery, the lift truck has its power source. The various kinds of engine on the lift truck will require varying power sources. For instance, a lift truck with an IC engine could have any of the following as its power source: diesel, gasoline, CNG gas or LP gas. Electric motor lift trucks receive their power from fuel cells or a battery.

Truck Frame - the base of the forklift truck and the most essential of all the forklift components is the frame of the truck. This forms the core of the machinery. All other lift truck components are attached to the base, like for example the axles, mast, wheels counterweight and overhead guard. Fuel and hydraulic fluid tanks may also be part of the frame assembly.

Counterweight Lift Truck Components - While carrying heavy cargo, the counterweight allows the machine to be balanced. This particular part is cast iron and comes connected to the back of the lift truck. The counterbalance balances the frame of the truck so as to prevent it from tipping over when a load is being carried or lifted on the front. The heavy lead-acid battery in an electric lift truck gives balance and may function as part of the counterweight.

The Cab Area - The cab is also referred to as the operator compartment. Lift trucks would sometimes have closed cabs whilst others will be open to the air. There are numerous parts situated within the cab for operating the forks. The cab contains such essential components like the seats, pedals, levers, switches, steering wheel and operator controls. The dashboard has operator readouts.
