Reach Truck
In order to keep storage areas tidy and to store supplies and pallets of goods, a reach truck can be used. The reach truck is available in several models: the double-deep reach, straddle reach and the stand-up reach.
The simplest type is the stand-up. The forks of the truck slide underneath the pallet and move it to the right storage place. The forks slide the pallet into position. This particular kind of reach truck is suitable when shelving units are only one pallet deep.
Best for workplaces where the shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods, the double-deep reach truck, that is similar to the stand-up, is frequently used. This model consists of telescopic forks intended to place the pallet at the back of the shelving unit. This eliminates the need to push the pallet back when one more pallet must go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the added advantage of being able to not just slide underneath the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are recommended for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in many directions. This particular version is ideal in conditions where goods would not be damaged if the pallet sides are grabbed.
Usually more than one kind of reach truck is needed in warehouses. Manufacturing facilities and textile firms use various kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not difficult to utilize and can increase productivity while making the most of available storage space.
